I have determined that there are five types of general news articles about librarians:
- Librarians are hip. No, really! That stereotype thing is so last week.
- Librarians are awesome! Look at all the cool stuff they do. No one appreciates them as much as they should.
- Gasp! A librarian did [insert act of bravery or indecency]!
- OH NOES! There aren’t enough librarians!
- OH NOES! There aren’t enough librarian jobs!
It’s my impression that #4 and #5 are industry-specific (confined to LibraryLand). Do you have examples where this isn’t the case?
4 – http://www.nola.com/news/t-p/metro/index.ssf?/base/news-23/1189319219298470.xml&coll=1
5 – This may be more of an industry-specific thing. I couldn’t find an example this morning (i.e. 30 seconds of Google News searching).
