I had two Netflix.com
movies gathering dust on my coffee table, so last night I sat down to watch them. It was that or try to decide on which book in Mt. TBR (which has grown to a bookcase of its own) to select. The first movie I tried got annoying fast, so I quit it. The second was 2001: A Space Odyssey. I really, really wanted to watch this because it’s such a classic SF film, but I couldn’t get into it. I liked the late 60’s imagining of space travel in the new millennium, as well as the “oops – that didn’t work out like you thought” branding. I got about as far as the part where Dr. Floyd is briefing a bunch of people before I realized that I’d rather take the trash out than continue the movie. So, I stopped the DVD and took the trash out. Oh, well. I think tonight I’ll tackle Mt. TBR instead.
I tried really hard to like 2001, too but damn that is some sleep-inducing shit! I tried to read the book, too, but never got past the ape part.
