Yesterday someone asked me, “So, are you 29 or 29 and holding?” I could take it that they think I look older than I am. Or, I could take it that they think I’m young for a department head. I think I’ll go with the latter.

Happy Birthday! I was talking with a faculty member, and sharing a story about getting “ma’am”ed at the reference desk. My response to “ma’am” is to stomp my foot and say, “I’m not even 30!” The faculty member said, “Well, you could pass for a student.” And I wanted to stomp my foot and say “No, I’m a grown up!”
Late 20’s. It’s a conflicted time. Too young, too old… Or just right!
